Thailand. The plant is also native to low regions of China. They also grow in Taiwan, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

THE PLANT:

Aglaia flowers are small, about 2 mm (rice sized) and have a robust aroma during daytime hours but little to no scent during the night. Its long lasting scent earned it the common name perfume plant for good reason. The everblooming houseplant easily grows in clay pots and is happy with almost no care. The wonderfull aroma sneaks up on you when you pass it - it will definently win your heart over.

CULTURAL MEANING:

In the Chinese culture, Aglaia flowers represent fortune because its little flowers look like rice grains and are believed to bring wealth and good luck.

SCENT DESCRIBTION:

Aglaia has a highly alluring and pleasant scent. In natural perfumery, Aglaia Absolute is ideal to add to fruity, floral, green tea notes in Oriental bouquets and when looking to create exciting East Asian bouquets, peach and pear-inspired scents, and robust amber bases with notes of fresh forest green.

AROMATHERAPEUTIC EFFECTS:

There are no documented aromatherapy uses of Aglaia odorata although it is said to be uplifting. It is said that it brings a feeling of happiness, peacefulness and calms emotions.
